Ottawa Chapter Meeting - November 2024

This presentation will delve into the City of Ottawa's Urban Forest Management Plan, exploring its goals and strategies for enhancing urban greenery. We will examine the Tree Protection By-law, which safeguards existing trees and promotes their health, as well as the Tree Planting Strategy, designed to expand and diversify the urban canopy. Attendees will gain insights into the importance of these initiatives for environmental sustainability and community well-being.

Guest Speaker:
Martha Copestake

Martha Copestake has been an Urban Forester with the City of Ottawa for 17 years.

The focus of her work is strategic urban forest management and policy development. Martha studied Forestry Engineering at the University of New Brunswick and has a Master of Forest Conservation from the University of Toronto.

In her free time, Martha likes to ski, bike, and canoe with her daughters and husband.
