2025 Skills Ontario Competition
The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students to demonstrate that they are the best of the best in their field. Over the two and a half days, they turn the heads of their educators, family, friends and prospective employers. Winners are awarded with Gold, Silver or Bronze medals — and some with monetary awards, too — and the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition. From there, competitors could be headed to a WorldSkills Competition.

In addition to contests, the Skills Ontario Competition has a number of components, including: the Career Exploration Showcase, the Young Women's Conference, the First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) Conference, and the Closing Ceremonies.

Landscape Ontario proudly supports our youth

For over 20 years, volunteers from the Landscape Ontario community have supported this annual event by donating their time, expertise, equipment and materials to organize, implement and judge the Landscape and Horticulture Competition and the Landscape Design Competition at both secondary and post-secondary levels.

Volunteers also attend to answer questions and promote the many career opportunities available in the landscape horticulture industry while also taking the opportunity to check out the top young talent in the province.

Financial support

In addition to member participation, the Ontario Horticultural Trades Foundation (Landscape Ontario's charitable organization), provides monetary bursaries to medallists of both competitions to support them at the beginning of their career journey. In 2024, the Foundation provided $6,000 to winners and will support this year's winners to the amount of $6,600.
